Prof. Piotr Sielicki from PUT and his team assessed the possibility of performing further exploration works in buried corridors carved in basalt during World War II. An analysis was also made regarding the existence of new corridors in this facility. Technologies developed as part of a project co-financed by the National Center for Research and Development are used in this project. "This technology concerns the quick assessment of the impact of an explosion in the environment of underground corridors, it is related to the analysis of the strength of historical supporting structures and the inventory of underground corridors with the use of specially built unmanned vehicles and aircraft" – says, prof. Sielicki.

Sebastian Terenda, the coordinator of the excavations admits that further exploration of the buried corridors using traditional methods is too expensive. Therefore, the assistance of researchers from the Poznan University of Technology may turn out to be crucial. “We are still looking for an answer why the Germans retreating from these areas filled up all the entrances and punctuated these passages. Only after we see everything we will analyze what happened at Kamienna Gora and what it was supposed to serve. Was it a shelter, or maybe a site of a planned factory? " - adds Mr Terenda.
