SAHAR ROKH

Sahar Rokh [Faculty of Architecture, PUT, Poznan]

Sahar Rokh is a PhD candidate at the faculty of Architecture, Poznan University of Technology (PUT). With a research focus on regenerative urbanism, her current work centers on community-driven transformation of urban spaces through redefining the relationship between society and ecology. She is particularly interested in imagination-based participatory practices to envision alternative future for urban spaces, grounded in balanced socio-ecological systems. Alongside this visioning, she develops roadmaps and strategies to bring these scenarios into reality, guiding the co-creation of spatial relations and circulation in urban environments, aiming at fostering resilient and inclusive cities.

Holding both a Master’s and a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture with distinction from the Art University of Isfahan, Iran, Sahar has consistently focused her academic work on the dynamic interplay between buildings and their socio-ecological contexts. In her Master’s thesis, she identified key factors influencing individual-environment interactions, emphasizing the role of human behavior in design, and behavioral, cognitive, and psychosomatic impacts of the built environment on users.  As a result, she developed design principles that balance user needs with climatic challenges, employing vernacular materials and structures.

Sahar is an active member of the international organization of Global Urban Development (GUD) under the DUT project. Her previous professional roles include project engineer, project manager, and senior architect. She has developed strong skills in conducting field studies, gathering and analyzing data, and formulating specific definitions and design principles based on her findings. Adept at working both independently and in interdisciplinary teams, she brings a goal-oriented mindset and leadership skills gained through collaboration with specialists and external partners.

She enjoys taking initiatives and tackling challenging topics, and beyond design and research, she follows photography and music as personal passions.
