Marta Pieczara, Assistant Professor [Faculty of Architecture, PUT, Poznan]
A graduate of architecture and urban planning at the Cracow University of Technology, she received the "Diploma of the Year" award from the Association of Polish Architects, Cracow branch, and a first-degree distinction in the Z. Zawistowski "Diploma of the Year" competition. In 2006, she was awarded the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship. From 2007 to 2011, she held the position of assistant at the Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (Switzerland), where she successfully defended her doctoral thesis in 2012.
As an architect, she contributed to the design of institutional facilities (schools, offices, production plants) and residential structures (incorporating detailed interior solutions and ergonomic considerations) in Poland and the United States. Her professional practice involved the implementation of LEED certification. One of her favourite design accomplishments was the development of spatial order guidelines for a section of the city of De Kalb (Illinois). The study encompassed, among other aspects, the establishment of a template for architectural forms, materials, and colour standards for facades, as well as specifications regarding streetscape for one of the districts.
The primary research interests of D.Sc. Eng. Arch. Marta Pieczara currently pertain to various landscape aspects in spatial planning. These encompass both the perception of landscape attractiveness and the assessment of ecosystem services provided by landscapes. Several years of research dedicated to the attractiveness of landscapes observed in daily interactions with public spaces in the immediate vicinity have been compiled in the habilitation monograph titled "Contemporary public space in the Poznań County. Landscape method of measuring the quality of public space." Subsequent investigations aim to identify sustainable development indicators for urban areas and implement the concept of regenerative urbanism.
