Zuzanna Kasperczyk-Brodecka [previously Faculty of Architecture, PUT, Poznan; currently IRMIR, Cracow]

 

 

Zuzanna Kasperczyk-Brodecka is an architect and researcher specializing in the temporary use of vacant spatial resources as a strategy for sustainable regeneration. She holds a Master’s degree in Architecture from the Cracow University of Technology (2018) and is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Architecture, Poznań University of Technology, waiting to defend her dissertation in September 2025. Her doctoral research, “Temporary Use as a Method of Recycling Vacant Spatial Resources Supporting Regenerative and Developmental Processes of the Inner City,” provides a practical toolkit for activating unused urban sites in response to climate adaptation, circular economy, and sustainable development challenges.

She was a recipient of the City of Warsaw Doctoral Scholarship (2022–2023), within which she conducted an independent research project focused on identifying and assessing the city-building effects of temporary use of vacant spaces for cultural purposes.  She is a member of the international consortium implementing the DUT 2024–funded project EDITUA, focusing on AI-supported green urban regeneration.

Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as Housing Environment and presented at major conferences, including the 2024 RSA Annual Conference in Florence. She has collaborated with Autoportret quarterly, the National Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning, and the Bęc Zmiana Foundation, and has participated in research trips and international workshops (EASA 2023, OSSA 2024).

She is currently employed at the Center for Strategic Research at the Institute of Urban and Regional Development, where she continues to develop her research skills and knowledge.
